such wandering hope,
in the fixed commonplace,
oh tanahairku,
how does it feel
to fight for a nation who
doesn’t love you back?
subtlety in patience
on issues that take courage
oh tanahairku,
why this bewildering fear
of being bold enough
to ride on the winds of change?
silently smiling
to disguise pained persons
oh tanahairku,
what do you think
we offer when we
idly sit on nostalgia?
stunted are the speeches
of the black-flagged brave
oh tanahairku,
who hath commanded
such treatment that led
to our democratic demise?
so firm our assertion
of who we are
oh tanahairku,
when can we rise
to answer the question
who will we be?
